Government will be in place with the security of the Aadhaar, now Verification of 16 digit virtual ID
The Unique Identification Authority (UIDAI) has announced new measures for protection by referring to the concern expressed by the Aadhaar through the Aadhaar.
New Delhi: Among the questions arising on the security of the base, the Unique Identification Authority (UIDAI) has announced to start the system of virtual ID. Also, the use of the basis for customer identification i.e. KYC will be limited.
For some time now, the news of stealing information from the base data base is coming continuously. An English newspaper has even claimed that it is possible to get information about a few rupees. On the other hand, in a research institute with the help of the Reserve Bank, it claimed that base data could prove to be very helpful for cyber criminals. Although the Authority has consistently claimed that people's information is completely safe and it is almost impossible to bend. Yet the Authority has announced new measures for protection while citing concern about privatisation.
- Any person can go to the UIDAI website (https://uidai.gov.in) and prepare a virtual ID in lieu of their base number. This facility will be available to the sole holder only.
- A 16-digit virtual ID will be valid only for some time. After the scheduled time, the new ID will have to be issued. Keep in mind that at the same time, the same virtual ID will run and after the new ID arrives the old will automatically be canceled.
- Due to virtual ID, phone companies or banks will get limited information such as name, address and photograph of the holder, which will be enough to prove that person's identity. Aadhaar number will not be available because of the virtual ID.
- There will be the same way to prove identity with virtual ID which is now through the base.
- Wherever you have to look for identity or KYC should be done, then this virtual ID can be used. In this way, the Aadhaar number will not be deposited with the concerned agency.
- The use of virtual ID will start from March 1st and will be made compulsory from 1st June.
- Action will be taken against any agency who will not develop the necessary facilities for the new option till the appointed time.
Along with this, limited use of the basis for KYC has been made. The Authority says that the basis will be used only on the basis of need or for limited information.
Till now, 119 crore Aadhaar numbers have been issued across the country. Aadhaar is an identity and any person living in India, even foreign citizens, can take the base number. The government has said on several occasions that the basis is not proof of citizenship. In the various schemes, the basis for providing government help like subsidy and scholarship is laid out.
