Work on 77 projects under the Smart City Project
Hardeep Puri, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, said that till now the development work has been started in 77 cities by establishing SPV.
New Delhi: In the 77 cities selected under the Smart City Project, 77 projects have been started with the cooperation of the State Government and Local Bodies in this project.
Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Puri told about the progress of Smart City project in the meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee attached to the Ministry. In the meeting held last week, Puri said that members of the committee including Satyanarayan Jatiya and Raghav Lakhanpal, under the Smart City Mission, are getting support from the state government and the local body for every city.
With the help of these, 'Special Purpose Vehicle' (SPV) is being formed as an Executive Unit under the Companies Act. All the works proposed under the Smart City Project will be made mandatory by the SPV. Puri said that till now the development work has started in 77 cities by installing SPV.
- Under this, investment proposals worth Rs 1.91 lakh crore have been received from 90 cities.
- Under the Smart City Mission, a target of completing 2855 projects costing Rs 1.35 lakh crore in selected cities has been fixed.
- Of these, 147 projects have been completed at the cost of 1872 crore and 396 projects are under progress.
- He said that in the first phase of the Smart City mission to be completed in two phases, the proposals of 98 cities from across the country were selected.
