The price of sugar will not increase, the case of chewing on sugar remains a problem

New Delhi: The sweetness of sugar will not be less at the moment. The issue of cessation on sugar has been delayed for a few days. Cession of GST was discussed today but it was not agreed between the states. No decision was taken at the GST Council meeting today for cess on sugar.

In the agreed
meeting between the states, only Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra supported CES from among the 5 major states affected by CCE. Tamilnadu protested while Gujarat advocated it with certain conditions. The Finance Minister of Karnataka did not participate in the meeting. Bengal opposed cessation, saying that every state has its own needs and every state has the opportunity to bring a proposal for cess according to its need. Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra said in the meeting that jute and Bengal states like Maharashtra and Gujarat may need cess for cotton farmers.

The Minister's Group Review Review will
now be constituted for a review of this matter, a minister's group of finance ministers of five states, which will be set up in two days. After formation, the minister has to submit his report within two weeks. According to the sources, the minister will consider the possibility of applying any cess within the GST but not only sugar.

The law will have to be changed;
Actually after the GST is implemented, the provision for such a cess has been exhausted. In such a situation, the government will have to make changes in the law for cess. Officials of the Finance Ministry indicated that the government could consider ordaining ordinance for a change in law.
